HISTORY
of
COMPUTERS

Computers didn't become what they are now in an instant. It took years for it to look and and work like what it is today. So how did people come up with this device that could help people perform simple and complicated tasks?

Chinese abacus
Humans have been calculating stuffs since at least 2400 BCE. The Chinese abacus or the "great grandfathers" of our computers now were used by people for adding and subtracting, and it was made of beads and rods that can be moved up and down to perform simple adding and subtracting. People also used ropes with knots called "Quipu" for taxation and others said language has something to do with quipu too.

The invention of the Jacquard's loom during the dawn of industrial revolution paved way for Herman Hollerith's tabulating machine which uses punch cards for calculation. Hollerith's company later became part of the International Business Machines (IBM).

During World War II, machines used for codes or secret messages were used. And after that, mechanical computing became electronic computing that first happened in Philadelphia in the University of Pennsylvania with the computing device called ENIAC

The IBM were used for banking that time but the problem was the data is only stored in one place so if disasters or nuclear attacks happen, all of these data will be gone. So this is how network or internet happened.
